MILWAUKEE, WI — The Milwaukee Brewers are now the favorite to win the World Series, according to one of baseball's most widely followed analytics sites.
The Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-4 on Monday at American Family Field, taking a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series.
As of Tuesday morning, FanGraphs gives Milwaukee a 39.1 percent chance to win the World Series, the best odds of any team still playing.
Before the series began, the site had the Brewers at 16.8 percent. Their title chances have more than doubled in two games.
Milwaukee's odds of winning the National League pennant have climbed from 29.7 percent before Game 1 to 67.5 percent.
A Dramatic Swing
The Dodgers, the two-time defending World Series champion, entered the series as the clear title favorite with a 53.4 percent chance, according to FanGraphs. That figure has since fallen to 24.8 percent.
FanGraphs now gives Los Angeles a 32.5 percent chance to come back and win the series.
In the American League, the Cleveland Guardians took a 1-0 lead in the American League Championship Series with a 7-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.
FanGraphs gives Cleveland a 22.9 percent chance to win the World Series and Tampa Bay a 13.2 percent chance.
The Brewers' 39.1 percent mark still means the team is more likely than not to fall short of a title, by FanGraphs' math.
Milwaukee needs two more wins over the Dodgers, and the next three games are in Los Angeles.
Two Wins From History
The Brewers have never won a National League pennant. The franchise's lone World Series appearance came in 1982, and it has never won a championship.
Milwaukee finished the regular season with a franchise-record 103 wins and the top seed in the National League.
The Dodgers had beaten the Brewers in all three of the teams' previous postseason meetings: the 2018 NLCS, the 2020 Wild Card Series and the 2025 NLCS, when Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in four games.
