The Brewers Will Beat the Cubs Today 6-2: Here's Who's Saying

The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs play a 163rd game to settle the NL Central Division and Wild Card. Game time and how to watch.

CHICAGO, IL -- The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs met 19 times during the regular season, but it's going to take a 20th contest in a 163rd MLB game to decide which of these two teams will win the NL Central Division and which one will play a one-game NL Wild Card game the following day.

Both teams enter this tiebreaker game with identical 95-67 records. The Milwaukee Brewers will send starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to the mound. The Cubs will start Jose Quintana.

Quintana has been a Brewer killer as of late. In 37-plus innings pitched against Milwaukee, Quintana has held the team to a .177 team batting average, allowing five home runs, ten walks and 33 strikeouts. He has a career 1.60 earned run average against the Brewers.

Chacin, on the other hand, has been similarly tough on the Cubs. In 22-plus innings pitched, the Brewer hurler has held the Cubs to a .183 batting average. He's given up one home run, struck out 27 and has a 1.59 earned run average against the Cubs.

The USA Today has gone out on a limb, saying that the Brewers will win this game 6-2. "Milwaukee is hot, aligned well for Monday and, possibly, just plain better than the Cubs. Not to worry: There's at least a 50% chance these teams meet again in the Division Series. The feeling here is Game 1 of that NLDS would come at Miller Park," they wrote today.

Here's how the Cubs stack up for the big game:

Meanwhile, the Cubs posted a tongue-in-cheek school excuse letter that's ready for parents to fill out in order to have a father-daughter or father-son afternoon at today's game:

The Brewers went 19-7 in September and won their last seven games. The Cubs lead the season series 11-8, though the Brewers won four of six meetings in September.

"It's good to know what you'll be facing," Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber told reporters. "You've seen these guys multiple times. It's up to us to be able to execute. I think the common theme in playoff games is execution. That makes the little things matter. I'm sure that's what it's going to be (Monday) - little things will matter, and it'll be a fun game."

"We're excited to go down there. We just finished a very successful run to get us in that game. We won seven in a row. That's pretty good," Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell said following the final game of the regular season.
