Clint Black burst onto the country scene in 1989 with a debut album so confident, so fully formed, it felt impossible it was a first record. Killin’ Time sent five singles to #1 and rewrote what was possible for a new artist in Nashville.
What followed was a career defined not just by hits but by craft - a songwriter’s ear, a producer’s instinct, and a performer’s command of the stage. From sold-out arenas to intimate theater runs, Clint has spent nearly four decades doing it his way.View Tickets & More Info

UB40 is one of the most successful and influential British groups of all time, with more than 100 million albums sold, and more than 50 charting singles in the UK, including their trademark global #1 hits “Red Red Wine” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You”; and U.S. Top 10s “Here I Am (Come and Take Me)” and “The Way You Do The Things You Do.” The reggae/pop legends set the stage this fall for their highly anticipated Relentless tour, performing their iconic hit songs, along with new songs and reworked classics from their recently released hit 45th Anniversary album, UB45, which reached #5 on the UK official album chart. The nine-piece ensemble’s 2025 tour includes on select dates, The English Beat, Inner Circle and Big Mountain.
“For more than 40 years, we’ve been one of the hardest working touring bands in pop music,” says guitarist/vocalist and UB40 co- founder Robin Campbell, who along with Jimmy Brown (drums), Earl Falconer (bass, vocals) and Norman Hassan (percussion, trombone, vocals), have been the core of the band for its entire ever-evolving history. “We aim to have a party every show. As much as we’ve enjoyed our Zoom chats during lockdown, there’s no substitute for the relationship and synergy we have with our live audiences.”
Lead singer Matt Doyle joined the band in 2021 when he was a member of the popular Birmingham reggae band KIOKO – taking over for Duncan Campbell, UB40’s lead singer since 2008 who retired after suffering a stroke. UB40 first got wind of the magic Doyle brings to the stage as a singer and performer when KIOKO opened for them in 2018 at The Royal Albert Hall and supported UB40 on their subsequent UK and European tours. Says Campbell, “Watching Matt standing there in the middle of the stage like a rabbit in headlights, full of shock and awe that he’s playing with a band he loved growing up, was simply fantastic but now his confidence has grown and he’s settled into the job with consummate ease.” For Doyle, naturally, it’s beyond a dream to be in those proverbial headlights. “Everyone has been so warm and welcoming,” he says, “and I’ve received so many beautiful wishes from fans from around the world, saying I’m the perfect guy for the job and they can’t wait to see me perform. Not only is it amazing being with the band singing these incredible songs I grew up with, but it’s also a blast sitting in a room just listening to these guys with so much worldwide touring experience tell their stories. KIOKO were doing very well, and I’m grateful for my time with them which allowed me to find my voice and hone my craft. But joining UB40 is like jumping on a ladder and climbing straight to the top floor.”
In addition to Doyle, Campbell, Brown, Falconer and Hassan, UB40’s current lineup includes long time members Martin Meredith (saxophone/WX7/ keyboards), and Laurence Parry (trumpet/ flugal trombone), IanThompson (saxophone) and newest member Jahred Gordon (keyboards), backing vocalist Matt Campbell plus permanent guest emcee Gilly G.
2023 marked UB40's 45th year as a band, and they celebrated with further shows including an emotional sold out Royal Albert Hall and a summer return to the US. They’ve continued their 45th celebrations by recording a new album which is out on the 19th of April 2024, the album - UB45 - consists of seven brand new songs and seven re-recordings of some classic UB40, a mixture of originals and Labour of Love songs. UB40’s 45 year celebrations will continue well into 2024. Following the release of UB45, the band will embark on a massive headline arena tour of the UK and Europe. Robin Campbell said: "We're so proud of this album and the new songs, but we also wanted to showcase Matt Doyle's vocals on some of the classics because he does them so well. He's brought a new lease of life to our music, as has fellow Brummie "permanent guest" MC Gilly G. When you play songs over so many years, the arrangements and vocals evolve and change. These updated versions of our hits are still close to the originals, but now reflect how we perform them today and to me they sound better than ever".
“We continue to make albums for the simple reason that we love doing it and we’re forever inspired by the reactions of our multiple generations of fans,” says Campbell. “Playing ‘Red Red Wine’ and having thousands of people sing back to us every night is fantastic, but we never want to become a cabaret act or do a Vegas residency where we only play decades-old hits for nostalgia’s sake. There’s always an incredible buzz when we present new material and get the stamp of approval from the audience.View Tickets & More Info

Your host — the mysterious Collector — has spent a lifetime seeking out the dark corners of history, where myths are born and legends refuse to die. Over the course of the night, the Collector releases spirits from five strange and wicked bottles, each revealing a tale and the cocktail that is paired to it. Your journey begins in fog-drenched Venetian canals, where romance and dread intertwine, before drawing you to a candlelit Victorian séance parlor where the veil grows thin. From there, the path darkens: a demon-haunted crossroads in Mexico, then deep into the shadowed catacombs that once inspired Poe. Hollow Bones is a riveting novel about the risks we take to protect the ones we love in a world where crisis is always just around the corner. On September 11, 2001, when Molly Fitzgerald was only two months old, her mother went to an appointment at the World Trade Center and never came home. Now an adult, she runs the Rhode Island Department for Emergency Preparedness, mapping out ways to save lives during storms, epidemics, and airplane crashes. When the unexpected upends her new marriage, it leads her to question everything she thought she knew. Moving between past and present, Hollow Bones is an epic story of the lies we tell ourselves as we write the narratives of our lives, the plans we design to protect ourselves at the worst moments, and the ties that bind mothers and daughters.
Jodi Picoult’s books, including Mad Honey (co-written with Jennifer Finney Boylan), Wish You Were Here, The Book of Two Ways, A Spark of Light, Small Great Things, Leaving Time, and My Sister's Keeper, have been translated widely and have reached millions of readers around the world. She has also co-authored two young adult novels, Between the Lines and Off the Page, with her daughter Samantha van Leer.

A native of the Bronx, Samara Joy became entranced by classic R&B as a child and cut her teeth as a singer in her church’s gospel choir. And while her family history is deeply musical—her grandparents helmed the Philadelphia gospel group the Savettes, and her father, the musician and songwriter Antonio McLendon, has produced, composed and arranged his own astounding original work—she didn’t delve into the jazz tradition until college at SUNY Purchase. During her studies there she won the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, which introduced her to the larger jazz scene as a rising star to watch. She was heard, by audiences and critics alike, as a masterful interpreter of jazz standards and a rightful heiress of the sound, technique and charisma that defined her jazz heroines—including Vaughan, Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln and Carmen McRae.
Joy released her self-titled debut on the Whirlwind label in 2021, followed a year later by Linger Awhile, her breakout Verve debut, of which Down Beat said, “With this beautiful recording, a silky-voiced star is born.” The album earned her a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album in addition to a headline-making win for Best New Artist. A deluxe edition of the album was released, as well as the EP A Joyful Holiday, which took home Grammys for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Jazz Performance in 2025. Her latest Verve album, Portrait, which Joy co-produced with the veteran trumpeter/bandleader and multi-Grammy winner Brian Lynch, showcases the intimate, soulful chemistry she’s developed with her touring band, earning her an NAACP Image Award in 2025 for Outstanding Jazz Album and the GRAMMY for Best Vocal Jazz Album in 2026. Portrait also spotlights her burgeoning gifts as a lyricist, in ingenious arrangements that meld her thoughtful words with music by Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and her late mentor Barry HarrisView Tickets & More Info

12th House in Twilight: An Immersive Celebration with Bob Reitman

Even now, as he reaches his eighth decade, with a lifetime of accolades and a seminal body of music behind him, Robin Trower is still chasing the biggest high he knows. It always starts the same way, with a road-scuffed Fender Stratocaster and a revved-up Marshall amplifier, those skilful fingers exploring the fretboard until a riff sticks and a new song ignites. And from the cultural flashpoint of Sixties London with Procol Harum, through 1974’s stadium-filling Bridge Of Sighs, right up to this year’s acclaimed Come And Find Me, it’s these addictive moments of creation that have kept the guitarist vital, relevant and contemporary while his peers trade on past glories.
“Some people say I’m driven, but I think it’s just the love of doing it,” reflects Trower of a multi-million-selling solo catalogue fast approaching thirty releases (and that’s before you compute his collaborations with everyone from Jack Bruce to Bryan Ferry). “I play guitar every day and just through messing around, ideas happen. I can never feel the songs coming. But all of a sudden, you get a sliver of an idea and you think, ‘Oh, what’s this…?’”
Right now, Trower stands on the cusp of a whirlwind year that will see him put down heavy miles across America and the UK (“I’m chomping at the bit, because I had to cancel a US tour last year due to an operation”). At the grand vintage of 80, however, this latest tour represents a mere stretch of the long road travelled. In his mind’s eye, Trower can still see his Southend-on-Sea childhood in the ’50s, and feel the formative influence of guitar players from across the water. “Rock ‘n’ roll,” he says, “was my first love. I’m still drawing on that first love for Come And Find Me.”
When he reaches right back, Trower’s earliest memory of that rebel movement is hearing Elvis sideman Scotty Moore (“He probably had the best sound of any rock ‘n’ roll player at the time”). Next came a life-changing spin of a friend’s imported single, which happened to be B.B. King’s 3 O’ Clock Blues (“I just remember hearing the bends and vibrato and thinking, ‘How the hell is he doing that?’”). Albert King’s Crosscut Saw, Jimi Hendrix’s Machine Gun, James Brown’s Live At The Apollo: all of them informed Trower’s musical personality as he made his first moves in 1959 with R&B hopefuls The Paramounts.
The big time beckoned in 1967 when Trower joined A Whiter Shade Of Pale hitmakers Procol Harum, and many guitarists would have clung to that enviable position for life. Trower acknowledges his good fortune at being at the epicentre of that late-’60s youthquake (“I still think it was the epitome of UK popular music and rock ‘n’ roll”). But Procol’s band dynamic could never contain all his ideas, and after five acclaimed albums, Trower rolled the dice on a solo career. “It was something I had to do,” he told Classic Rock. “But it could have all gone awry.”
Needless to say, the history books have vindicated him. By 1974, Trower was a major star in the land whose music had inspired him, with Bridge Of Sighs’ heavy soul achieving Gold US sales and influencing future luminaries like Steve Lukather, Metallica and countless more. “When I hear Bridge Of Sighs, it’s like the earth under my feet is moving,” the highly rated Canadian bluesman Philip Sayce told Guitarist in 2024. “It’s like a chest is heaving.”
Trower himself is still proud of that deathless record (“I recognise the potency, especially with Jimmy Dewar’s fantastic vocals”). Yet the veteran doesn’t dine out on Bridge Of Sighs – or his other hit albums of the late-’70s like For Earth Below, Long Misty Days and In City Dreams – preferring to march ever onward. Stick a pin in his catalogue over the past decade alone and you’ll find projects from 2020’s United State Of Mind supergroup alongside Maxi Priest to the pairing with New York vocalist Sari Schorr on 2023’s Joyful Sky. “She’s dynamite,” he says of the latter, “and I’ll Be Moving On is a particular favourite of mine from that album.”
Tracked last year during four separate sessions at Newbury’s Studio 91 (the setting for all Trower’s recent solo albums), the genesis of Come And Find Me speaks volumes about the guitarist’s late-period momentum and high standards. “Here’s the thing, I had enough material for two albums,” he reflects. “I must have recorded 18 songs, all finished. I honed that down to ten songs, but when I listened back to the album again a few months later, it didn’t quite hang together. So I recorded some new songs, knocked others off the previous running order. A lot of work went into Come And Find Me – but it really does hang together well now.”

Don’t say The Midnight didn’t warn you. After teasing fans on social media with ominous imagery, snippets of lush keyboard washes, and cryptic references to classic science fiction stories, the band that emerged over a decade ago out of Los Angeles returns with Syndicate, their fifth studio album (not even counting the three EPs released between) and their most ambitious and outward-looking work yet. Syndicate evolves The Midnight’s simultaneously retro and forward-looking sound while cementing the band’s status as perhaps the most musically and lyrically ambitious act to come out of the burgeoning synthwave scene.
With four singles already released from the 17-track album (“Shadowverse,” “Digital Dreams,” “Chariot,” and “Love is an Ocean,”) the listener can already get a sense of the wider canvas the band is painting with. “This is our ‘making peace with the apocalypse’ record,” says singer and lyricist Tyler Lyle.
And while Syndicate’s lyrics embrace the unsettled, sometimes paranoid side of the 1980s (few reminisces of the period focus on how preoccupied by nuclear war the eighties were) Lyle’s creative partner Tim McEwan brings undertones of anxiety and even doom to the lush synth washes and hooky yet unexpected chord progressions that fans of The Midnight have come to know and love.
The band was born in spring 2012 from the fortuitous meeting of two very different musical sensibilities. Atlanta-born Lyle emerged from the folk-inflected Georgia music scene that grew up around the legendary Eddie’s Attic live music venue. “I came to LA thinking I was gonna be the next Mumford and Sons,” Lyle laughs, recalling how he was put together with Danish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tim McEwan in what he calls “a songwriters’ blind date.”
The two quickly discovered the overlap of their creative Venn diagram lay in the moody, synthesizer-driven sound that exploded in popularity in the wake of the cult thriller Drive and especially its enormously influential retro-1980s inspired soundtrack. But the new musical direction required a lot of adjustment from both men. “Up until then I’d been moving in more traditional pop circles,” recalls McEwan, “and I really had to unlearn those tendencies.”
For McEwan, this meant embracing his inner maximalist, using the maxim “If it feels like it’s over the top…add more!”
And for Lyle, it meant moving away from narrative-driven lyrics and toward songs that relied more on imagery and pure mood. “I decided at some point that I’m not gonna tell a story,” says Lyle, “Instead, I’m gonna describe what the scenery is.”
The result is a listening experience that evokes in the listener Proustian sense memories of first loves and afternoons on the couch playing 8-bit video games while simultaneously feeling downright cinematic. In a genre sometimes derided for trafficking in easy nostalgia, The Midnight eschews putting air quotes around the DX7 solo of a 1980s radio hit in favor of washing over listeners and making them feel like they’re standing on a rainy street under neon inside a Michael Mann or a Tony Scott movie.
“I got into (mythologist and Hero With a Thousand Faces author) Joseph Campbell and (Swiss psychotherapist and author) Carl Jung in a big way and realized at some point that instead of just being a synth pop band we were building an entire world with all of these archetypes,” says Lyle. “We realized we were playing with the imagery of the ‘80s, but in the same way Springsteen did with midcentury America and factory work and such. That’s when it really became fun.”
Also notable in a scene more known for studio experimentation, The Midnight quickly emerged as an exciting live rock and roll band with a big and devoted young audience that grew completely outside the major label/radio airplay apparatus, scoring three number one singles on Billboard’s electronic music chart, playing major festivals, selling out massive headline tours, and co-headlining a 2024 run with Chromeo. “That always trips me out,” says McEwan. “When we first started playing live, I wondered who was gonna show up. Was it just going to be people over 35?”
But the burdens of building and sustaining that audience outside the corporate mainstream took their toll. McEwan recently withdrew from touring to focus on songwriting and studio work, while Lyle dealt with a family health crisis that sent his muse on a voyage into bleak and sunless lands. “I was spending a lot of time in doctors’ offices, and thinking about the larger world and are we living in the end of times?” Recalls Lyle. “But the truth is, all eight billion of our individual worlds will end — for each of us the apocalypse always comes.”
