MILWAUKEE, WI — Boats festooned with decorations and lights will coast around the marina channel at the McKinley Marina, for the first-ever Milwaukee Venetian Boat Parade, Aug. 19, at 8:30 p.m. The marina is located at 1750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive. The rain date is Aug. 20.
The event is presented through the partnership of Milwaukee County Parks, McKinley Marina Boat Owners Association, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, Milwaukee Yacht Club, and MAST.
Boaters with seaworthy vessels are encouraged to participate. Boats must be equipped with navigation lights and marine VHF radio (channel 72 low power), and a crew that includes a captain and designated radio operator. Registration for event participation is now open. The registration fee of $50 must be received by Aug. 16.

Celebrity judges will vote on the vessels as they pass in front of the Sailing Center’s sea wall.
Spectators may view the event for free. Best viewing options include the areas next to the judging stand, the walkway along the sea wall east of the Sailing Center, and along the Marina sea wall between the Center and South sections. Spectators may bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

From 6–8 p.m., the public may tour the Milwaukee Sailing Center. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Proceeds of this event will go to the Milwaukee Water Commons Water School, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, and McKinley Marina Tenants Association.
