Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help.
- Children's Vision Screener - Be a vision screener for preschool children weekday mornings in Milwaukee; training and certification provided; training on October 24. Contact Prevent Blindness Wisconsin at sarah@pbwi.org or 414-765-0505 ext. 406.
- Songs from the heart - Share your musical talents such as singing or playing instrument during social visits with hospice patients in Franklin. Contact Heartland Hospice at emilee.high@hcr-manorcare.com or 414-944-2000.
- Receptionist/Office Assistant - Answer telephones, screen calls and schedule appointments Tuesdays or Wednesdays; must have computer experience. Contact Holton Street Clinic at jims@holtonstreetclinic.org or 414-264-8800.
- Mobility Store Driver - Drive agency vehicles and deliver durable medical equipment Thursdays to stores in Madison and Wauwatosa and/or pickups from individuals and organizations. Contact IndependenceFirst at afeeley@independencefirst.org or 414-226-8334.
- GET A WORKOUT AND GIVE BACK - Unload donations, move priced items to the sales floor, assist customers and tidy up weekdays or Saturdays at Milwaukee Habitat For Humanity East or West Restores. Contact mwydeven@milwaukeehabitat.org or 414-562-6100.
- Fall Festival - Help with admissions, pumpkin bowling, cider press, wagon rides, stuffing scarecrows and parking Sunday, Oct. 15 at Fall Festival at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Contact MHonel@schlitzaudubon.org or 414-352-2880.
- Fall Weed-Outs - Remove invasive weeds to protect native plants at Milwaukee County Parks on Saturday mornings October-November. Contact the Park People at dawn@parkpeoplemke.org or (414) 273-7275.
