Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help.
- Read With Me - Read with children ages 2 to 5 in small groups or one-on-one weekday mornings at Next Door’s 29th Street or Capitol Drive locations. Contact mstevens@nextdoormil.org or 414- 562-2929.
- Small Group ESL Tutoring for Refugees - Tutor English as a Second Language (ESL) to refugees in small groups on weekdays; experience preferred but not required. Contact Catholic Charities at jbrandt@ccmke.org or 414-769-3414.
- Tutor Youth - Assist students with homework assignments one-on-one or in small groups during the school day. Contact Milwaukee Academy of Science at volunteercoordinator@MAScience.org or 414-933-0302.
- Friendly Ambassadors - Welcome and assist patients and visitors at Aurora Health Care facilities in West Allis, Greenfield, Cudahy and Oak Creek; day, evening or weekend hours. Complete an online application.
- Old Fashion Ice Cream Parlor - Create and serve frosty ice cream treats for our senior residents and their guests at Luther Manor; weekday and weekend hours. Contact volunteer@luthermanor.org or 414-831-8964.
- Animal Shelter - Feed cats, clean litter boxes and cages and sweep and mop shelter; weekday, evening and weekend hours. Contact Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter at MediaRelations@HappyEndings.us or 414-744-3287.
