Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help.
- Assist staff with crisis calls, intake assessments and youth emergency shelter management; training provided. Contact Walker's Point Youth & Family Center at ben.hastil@walkerspoint.org or 414-647-8200.
- Help children with summer nature camp projects, hand out snacks and participate in free play June-August; weekday mornings. Contact Bay View Community Center kschubring@bayviewcenter.org or 414-482-1000.
- Help connect children with the natural world at summer day camp June 11-August 10 at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Contact mhonel@schlitzaudubon.org or 414-352-2880.
- Teach dance to individuals with disabilities ages 16 and older June 7-August 16; prefer dance or music therapy background. Contact Easterseals Southeast Wisconsin at emmap@eastersealswise.com or 414-963-5902.
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors at Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore in Cudahy and Layton Avenue Health Clinic in St. Francis; day, evening or weekend hours. Complete an online application or contact michelle.tisljar@aurora.org or 262-329-4615.
- Gather together a group and choose any day in May to clean up a neighborhood, park, or river near you. Contact Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful at mailto:betsy@kgmb.org or 414-272-5462 ext. 301.
