Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help.
- Answer a mental health hotline that provides emotional support and crisis intervention for people in the Greater Milwaukee area and beyond; evening training Aug. 29 and 30. Contact COPE Services at mstern@copeservices.org or (262) 377-1477.
- Sort, wash, fold and hang donated clothes and assist individuals shop and find clothing weekdays and Saturdays for Repairers of the Breach. Contact centermanager@repairers.org or (414) 342-9323.
- Stock shelves and help families choose and package food at Milwaukee Christian Center’s food pantry weekdays. Contact barellano@mccwi.org or (414) 902-5391.
- Prepare and serve dinner for 40 women and children; ideal for individuals, families or groups of up to 10. Contact Milwaukee Women's Center at jkavanaugh@communityadvocates.net or (414) 270-2984.
- Groups of up to 10 are needed to fill backpacks with school supplies 1 to 3 p.m. July 8-18. Contact The Salvation Army Milwaukee County. Sign up here or contact nancy_zompolas@usc.salvationarmy.org or (414) 302-4300.
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors at Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore in Cudahy and Layton Avenue Health Clinic in St. Francis; days, evenings or weekends. Complete an online application or contact michelle.tisljar@aurora.org or (262) 329-4615.
