Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help this summer.
- Chef de Mission - Share your expertise in food preparation and cooking with individuals with disabilities; weekdays 9am-2:30pm. Contact Easterseals SE Wisconsin at paulas@eastersealswise.com or 414-963-5934.
- Holiday Giving Tree Project Assistant - Help manage Holiday Giving Tree, a program that provides gifts to nonprofits in Milwaukee area. Duties include data entry, customer service, gift tag creation, and outreach to find shoppers; now-December. Contact givingtree@npcmilwaukee.org or 414-299-3737.
- Teacher Naturalist - Lead environmental education programs for school age children which includes co-teaching and leading 2 to 5 hour educational programs; teacher training provided by Riveredge Nature Center. Contact volunteers@riveredge.us or 262-375-2715.
- Connect through Creativity - Co-facilitate story telling group in memory care, assisted living or skilled nursing using Time Slips program; online training. Contact St. Camillus/San Camillo at lbartelt@stcam.com or 414-259-4610.
- Lunch Time Helper - Chat and spend time with adults with disabilities during lunch at Curative Care Adult Day Program; also help prepare food and clean up. Contact lmorowski@curative.org or 414-479-9297.
- Celebrate the First Day of School with MPS - Welcome students and families as they arrive on the first day of school in the morning at a Milwaukee Public School near you Tuesday September 5. Sign up here.
