Giving Tuesday 2016: Donations to Wisconsin Humane Society Doubled Today

Chance, an abused puppy, is one of many examples of the good work done for animals in our county.

Chance, an 8-month-old pup, had been left to die alone. Injured and scared, the gentle pup was tossed into a dumpster like a piece of garbage. Thankfully, a kind citizen found Chance and folks at the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) got him to the safety of the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS).

Chance’s injuries were severe. The deep wounds on his legs, paws, and belly indicated that he was likely dragged behind a car. Humane Society staff treated him immediately with IV fluids and medication to ease his pain, and his raw wounds were cleaned and bandaged.

Chance’s story is a reminder of the more than 24,000 animals who receive lifesaving care every year at the Wisconsin Humane Society. On this day of giving, WHS is asking you to consider making a gift to support animals in need in our community. Donations made today will be matched, doubling your impact for animals in need, according to the WHS website.

Chance has been recovering at WHS for the past few weeks. Despite everything he has been through, his tail is still wagging and he’s always willing to share kisses with our staff and volunteers. His wounds are healing along with his spirit.

Shortly after he arrived at WHS, the Good Samaritan who rescued him began calling to see how the poor pup was doing. The man even sent a brand new toy to brighten Chance’s days and he now sleeps with it at his side.
