Here's How Much A $100 Preseason Bet On The Brewers Would Pay Now

Oddsmakers gave Milwaukee long odds to win the NL before Opening Day. Then the Brewers swept the Dodgers.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Anyone who put $100 on the Milwaukee Brewers to win the National League pennant before the 2026 season is now holding a winning ticket worth $1,700.

The Brewers were listed at +1600 to win the NL before the season, according to BetMGM's preseason odds. At those odds, a $100 bet returns the original $100 stake plus $1,600 in winnings.

Bettors who jumped in even earlier got a slightly shorter price. BetMGM's opening line on the Brewers to win the NL was +1200, which would have turned $100 into $1,300.

Milwaukee clinched the pennant Thursday night with a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, completing a four-game sweep of the two-time defending World Series champions.

It is the franchise's first NL pennant and its first trip to the World Series since 1982, when the Brewers played in the American League.

The Brewers were the only current NL franchise that had never won a pennant.

A Long Shot In The Spring

Oddsmakers did not see this coming. The Dodgers opened the season as heavy favorites at +125 to win the NL.

Six teams had shorter odds than Milwaukee before the season: the Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Braves, Cubs and Padres.

BetMGM set the Brewers' preseason win total at 84.5. Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA projection system was even less optimistic, forecasting about 81 wins.

Instead, Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games, the most in the majors, and claimed its fourth straight NL Central title, despite ranking 19th in payroll.

On To The World Series

The Brewers will host the first World Series game ever played at American Family Field when the Fall Classic opens Oct. 23. Milwaukee will face the winner of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays.

FanGraphs gives the Brewers a 57.7 percent chance to win the World Series as of Friday, the best of the three remaining teams.
