Inmate Dies At Milwaukee County Jail: Reports

MILWAUKEE, WI — A 37-year-old inmate died Thursday morning at the Milwaukee County Jail, according to reports.

The man was discovered unconscious in a cell shortly after 9 a.m. during a medication pass, according to FOX6, which reported emergency personnel tried to save his life, but he was pronounced dead before 10 a.m.

The man had been in custody since January and was charged with reckless endangerment, using a weapon, possessing a gun, obstructing police, and drug offenses, including heroin and fentanyl possession, WISN reported. The fatality is being investigated by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, according to WISN.

Several inmates have died at the jail since mid-2022, WISN reported, including Octaviano Juarez-Corro, a former “most wanted” fugitive, and Brieon Green, who strangled himself using a phone cord. Green’s family has hired an attorney and is exploring a civil case, according to WISN.

A 20-year-old woman also died of suicide in December at the jail, WTMJ reported.
