Man Shot 8 Times While Protecting Woman From Angry Ex: Report

MILWAUKEE, WI — Police are searching for a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, saying he's the person responsible for attempting to shoot and kill his ex-girlfriend. Police say he shot and killed her new boyfriend in the attempt.
Police say that man, Victor Cintron, pulled a semiautomatic pistol on his ex-girlfriend as she and her new boyfriend were waiting at a stoplight at the intersection of Forest Home Ave. and N. 27th Street on the afternoon of Friday, May 3.
Officers investigating the crime say that the boyfriend tried to shield the woman from the gunfire. He bore the brunt of Cintron's gunfire, sustaining several direct hits as he fired a total of 21 9mm rounds at the couple.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, officers responded to the area of N. 27th Street and W. Forest Home Ave. where they saw the boyfriend slumped over in the driver's seat of a car stuck at the intersection.
Officers say he had a faint pulse. First-responders removed him from his car, and began lifesaving measures. Police say he died at the scene.

Police questioned the man's girlfriend who was a passenger in the victim's car. According to police reports, the woman told officers that she saw Cintron shoot and kill her boyfriend.
When police dug further into the case, they learned that Cintron was the woman's ex-boyfriend and that they had a child together. When Cintron and the woman separated, the woman told police that Cintron began a series of physically abusive behaviors against her, including issuing a threat to kill her in April.
According to the criminal complaint, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner determined that the boyfriend had been shot eight times.
Cintron has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and attempted homicide in the crime. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted.
