Man Threw Punch That Killed 2-Month-Old Child: Report
In the criminal complaint, investigators noted that the man admitted to trying to wrest control of the child from his mother.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities in Milwaukee say a man was charged Monday after throwing the punches that injured a woman and resulted in the death of her two-month-old son.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, Kenta Evans has been arrested and charged with first degree reckless homicide and could face up to 60 years imprisonment if convicted.
Investigators say Evans went to the child's mother's house during the early morning hours of June 5 to initially see the baby. Once inside the house, investigators say Evans' mood quickly shifted from wanting to see the child to one of anger toward the mother.

Authorities say Evans became enraged, accusing the mother of having other men in the house. Investigators say he smashed the mother's cell phone against a wall.
According to the criminal complaint, Evans threw multiple punches at the mother as she carried her two-month-old son in her arms.

After Evans was forced to leave by the mother and a female friend, investigators say the women rushed the child to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin for treatment.
Investigators say medical staff found that the two-month-old child had multiple skull fractures, brain hemorrhaging and was in respiratory failure. Medical staff determined that the child was not expected to survive.
At just before 9 a.m. on June 5, just a few hours after he was rushed to the hospital, the two-month-old child succumbed to his injuries and died, authorities said in their report.
Police said Evans, following his arrest by Milwaukee Police, admitted to being involved in an altercation with the child's mother during the early morning hours of June 5. During the altercation, Evans told investigators that he attempted to take the child away from his mother. The mother had been holding the child with both arms to her chest.
In the criminal complaint, investigators noted that Evans admitted to trying to wrest control of the child from his mother. He became frustrated and began punching her repeatedly, the report stated.
Jail records indicate that Evans is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $75,700 bond amount. He is expected in court for his initial appearance.
