Memorial Day 2018 in Milwaukee is home to a parade and multiple ceremonies. Here is your guide to timing, location and getting around.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Memorial Day is Monday, May 28. For some, Memorial Day is an extra day off of work filled with family gatherings, an outdoor celebration or a chance to get that garden or landscaping work done.

But for all of us, Memorial Day is exactly that, a day set aside to honor the memories of friends, family and loved ones who lost their lives serving our country in the armed forces.

The public is invited to a 2018 Milwaukee Memorial Day Ceremony to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice at Milwaukee's Wood National Cemetery, 5000 W National Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53295.

9:10 a.m. – Milwaukee American Legion Band

9:25 a.m. – Presentation of Colors and Ceremony

Here is a guide to Milwaukee's Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony:

Milwaukee's 153rd-annual Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 28, 2018 at steps off at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth Street and Wisconsn Ave. and ends at Veterans Park.

Memorial Day Activities immediately follow the parade at Veterans Park, including:

  • Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the War Memorial Center Reflecting Pool
  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial Brick Dedication Ceremony at the War Memorial Center Reflecting Pool
  • Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Concert Band at the War Memorial Center Third Floor. Music starts at 4 p.m.

Directions to the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202:

Follow I-94 or I-43 downtown to the I-794 east. Take exit 1F, the Lakefront exit.

Take Lincoln Memorial Drive north through the stoplights at East Michigan Street, and pass under the Mason Street Bridge.

The turn for the parking lot will come up quickly on your right. Parking at this lot is free on Memorial Day.
