Memorial Day Weekend Drunk Driving Arrests

Ten drunken drivers were arrested between midnight Friday and Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.

Form Milwaukee County: Sheriff Richard Schmidt increased patrols during the Memorial Day weekend to ensure that the freeway, lakefront and parks were free from crime and disorder. Coinciding with this weekend’s enforcement operation, the Sheriff's Office “Operation Drive Sober” campaign was also deployed targeting impaired drivers.

Sheriff Schmidt said, "Law-abiding Milwaukee County citizens and visitors made the lakefront a marvelous place to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. Deputies will continue to be visible and respond quickly if unruly behavior takes place this summer."

Ten drunken drivers were arrested between midnight Friday and Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. The average prohibited alcohol concentration level was .145, almost double the legal limit.

Two repeat offenders were arrested: Eric Penn, age 28; and Edward Kearney, age 56; both of Milwaukee. First-time offenders taken into custody were: Kenneth Campbell, age 58, of Mount Pleasant; Faith Wilner, age 32, of New Berlin; Pierce McGrew, age 26, of Wadsworth, Illinois; and Milwaukee residents: Lynette Frontczak, age 36; Avonlea Potter, age 19; Miracle Williams, age 21; Biendy Sanchez Martinez, age 27; and Sher Thao, age 28.

Driver Flees After Freeway Crash

This morning, at 4:00 a.m., deputies responded to a call about a vehicle crash from the west to the east in the Zoo interchange. The vehicle had crashed head-on into an impact attenuator and all the air bags deployed. The driver had fled from the scene, running across the eastbound lanes of I-94 to Highway 100. Deputies stopped him in the 200 block of N. Mayfair Road.

During a search of the vehicle deputies discovered a loaded handgun in the trunk. Jarrell Stovall, age 33, of Milwaukee, was arrested and faces a charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. If convicted, the penalty is up to ten years in prison.

Sheriff Richard Schmidt said, "Felons cannot have firearms in their possession - period. Deputies will arrest and seek charges against unlawful gun possession. Enough violent crime!"
