Milwaukee Brewers Trade For Jeremy Jeffress

MILWAUKEE, WI — The Milwaukee Brewers have traded for a pitcher they once drafted, let go in free agency, and later re-signed and traded away.

According to NBC Sports, Jeffress has had a down year in Texas, posting a 5.31 ERA and a 1.672 WHIP. He’s and was allowing 10.8 hits per nine innings compared to a rate of 6.8 per nine a year ago. He’s just a year removed from a 2.33 ERA and still carries two more years of team control.

Milwaukee gives up 25-year-old Tayler Scott, a reliever who was toiling at AA Biloxi at the time of the trade. The righty was selected in the 2011 June Amateur Draft - Round: 5, Pick: 8, Overall: 159 by the Chicago Cubs.

Scott threw 61 innings at AA Biloxi, posting a 2.34 earned run average, and striking out about a batter per inning pitched. He had a 4-6 record with two saves in 46 appearances.

August 1, 2016: Traded by the Brewers with Jonathan Lucroy to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later, Luis Ortiz (minors) and Lewis Brinson. The Texas Rangers sent Ryan Cordell (minors) (September 5, 2016) to the Milwaukee Brewers to complete the trade.
