Milwaukee Catholic Schools Want Milwaukee School District to Pay More for Transportation
Legal action considered by St. Joan Antida; school district response being watched carefully for precedent.

(Posted on Nov. 29, 2016) MILWAUKEE, WI — Two Catholic schools are asking Milwaukee Public Schools to help fund their transportation costs under a 1967 state law that requires school districts to help provide bussing for students who attend private school, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
The requests came from Messmer Catholic School and St. John Antida High School. if the public school district doesn't acquiesce, they may face a lawsuit, according to the report.
The newspaper said private schools are closely watching what happens next, as it may give them an opportunity to tap into public funding streams.
