MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee is one of four cities under consideration to host the 2024 Republican National Convention as the party narrows its search.
Party officials will visit Milwaukee, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Salt Lake City in the next few months and make a final decision in the spring, Politico reported.
The city submitted a 200-page application to the party in December, touting the city's access to Lake Michigan, the Fiserv Forum's construction and more, The Associated Press reported.

Milwaukee would welcome the attention and economic effects of a national political convention, acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson said in a statement.
"We will show the Republican National Committee – or other big convention planners – what a great place our city is," Johnson said. "I appreciate all the work of Visit Milwaukee and other partners are bringing to this effort."

Former Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said in December that he wanted the city to host both the Republican and Democratic parties in 2024.
"Milwaukee will be particularly well situated in 2024 with a newly expanded convention center in close proximity to the Fiserv Forum Arena," he said in an open letter to Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison.
The Democratic National Convention was scaled back because of the COVID-19 pandemic when Milwaukee hosted in August 2020.
"It was the first time a major political party chose Wisconsin to hold its convention, but these are not conventional times." Barrett said after the switch to virtual.
