Having an interest in crime scene photography, he applied to MPD’s Forensic Division in 2003. While assigned to that division he supported Police Officers, Detectives, and other law enforcement investigative teams by locating, collecting, documenting and processing evidence. He, along with other forensic investigators, assisted in solving countless crimes through their hard work.
In 2009, Forensic Video Examiner Mays was promoted to the Forensic Video Examiner position. This position requires him to perform forensic examinations of analog and digital video evidence to include moving and still photo images recovered from closed-circuit television, surveillance systems and camcorders.
Based on his work ethic, his video production background and his overall capabilities, Forensic Video Examiner Mays was selected to produce video content for the Public Information Office.
Forensic Video Examiner Mays was born and raised in the City of Milwaukee and still resides in our city with his wife and children. Forensic Video Examiner Mays believes, "The secret to my success is practice.”
Forensic Video Examiner Mays graduated from North Division High School and has obtained several law enforcement certifications including digital video evidence recovery, iNPUT-ACE, and FBI’s Digital Imaging & Video Recovery Team (DIVRT).
