Milwaukee Police Honor Local Pastor

The Milwaukee Police Department is proud to honor and recognize the members of our organization and the residents of our City, who are dedicated to making Milwaukee a safer place to live, work and raise a family.

Following the death of Police Officer Michael Michalski the Unity Gospel House of Prayer, under the leadership of Pastor Marlon Lock, dedicated time, effort and continuous hard work to support the Milwaukee Police Department, the community and the citizens it serves. These efforts included the organization of a walk-through of the neighborhood where this tragic incident occurred.
Throughout the following months, Pastor Lock worked with MPD and community members to facilitate various community activities. Organized marches occurred every Thursday night and church members prayed with the residents of the neighborhoods. Reach outs to gang members and drug dealers were conducted and they were encouraged to make a change for a better way of life.

Other community events included a walk/run, book bag give away, Thanksgiving dinner, and a charity basketball game. The church and partners donated over $4,000.00 to the Sojourner Family Peace Center in efforts to support women and children recovering from abusive relationships.
In August 2019, Tuesday Night of Hope services was created. The church canceled their regular Tuesday evening services and held a public service outside the Washington Park bandshell. The Milwaukee Police Department’s community partners and faith-based organizations are instrumental in bridging gaps between the police and community.
