Milwaukee Woman Dies From Coronavirus, Medical Examiner Says

A 55-year-old woman died in a Milwaukee-area hospital this week. She tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A 55-year-old Milwaukee woman died from complications related to the new coronavirus, COVID-19, on Thursday, said county medical examiner Dr. Brian Peterson. The woman was declared dead at a local hospital.

Peterson said the woman was tested for COVID-19. Her results returned Friday and were positive for the virus.

Milwaukee County leads Wisconsin in confirmed cases of COVID-19, Gov. Tony Evers confirmed on Friday. The northwest portion of the city has been hit hardest by the virus, with Evers referring to the area as a "crisis within a crisis."

As of Friday afternoon, there 842 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. At least 13 people were dead due to complications from the virus.
