Having the desire to investigate crime scenes and interview victims and witnesses, he successfully completed the detective examination process and was promoted in 2007. As a detective he was assigned to various units throughout the agency which include but are not limited to the Robbery Division, the Homicide Division and the Special Investigations Division.
When asked why he wanted to become a member of MPD, he stated he was looking for a brother and sisterhood that he had while serving in the military. “I met some great people and was accepted for who I am even though I was from Texas and didn’t know anyone in Wisconsin. I am happy that I made it as a lot of my close friends did not, due to illness and on duty incidents. I know I met everyone for a reason, whether it be for blessings or lessons. If I have made a positive impact on a resident or an officer’s life than I have done my job,” he said.
Detective Obregon holds multiple law enforcement certifications and is a proud veteran of the United States Army.
After 25 years of service, Detective Obregon recently retired from the Milwaukee Police Department. His message for new officers is simple, “Things have changed over the years, but policing is still the same. Serve and protect the residents of Milwaukee. Stay safe and look after one another, God Bless.”
