Hockers participated in Marquette University’s Pre-Law Scholars program, which allowed her to finish her undergraduate studies and law school in 6 years rather than the customary 7 years. “During my undergraduate program, I was able to complete all credits toward my major in the first three years of college, and begin law school in my fourth year,” said Michelle Hockers, Milwaukee personal injury attorney with Murphy & Prachthauser, S.C.
Following the completion of her first year of law school, she accepted a position as a law clerk with Murphy & Prachthauser, S.C., and worked there throughout the remainder of law school. Hockers stated, “While in law school, I participated in a workshop that allowed me to gain courtroom experience as a student and helped reinforce my decision to be a litigator.”

After graduating in the top five percent of her law school class and earning a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in litigation in 2015, Hockers remained at Murphy & Prachthauser as an Associate to focus on personal injury law. “Over the years, I have been extremely fortunate to work with the lawyers at Murphy & Prachthauser, and I am honored to join them as a Partner,” said Hockers.
“We’ve been fortunate to hire some of the best students from Marquette Law School, and it did not take long for our team to recognize the superb skills Michelle brings to our firm,” said Keith Stachowiak, Milwaukee personal injury attorney with Murphy & Prachthauser, S.C. “Whether she is taking depositions, working with treating doctors, or trying cases, Michelle takes great pride in her work and has a passion for helping people. Our desire to work with her long-term made it an easy decision to offer a promotion to Partner.”
Hockers currently handles cases including motor vehicle accidents, serious personal injury, and product liability crashworthiness cases. She primarily works on cases in Wisconsin but has also been admitted to practice on cases in Minnesota and California.
In addition to her work with Murphy & Prachthauser, S.C., Hockers is on the Board of Directors for the West Bend Community and Alumni Scholarship Foundation, also known as Columns. The organization is volunteer-driven and raises funds and administers scholarships to graduating seniors at the West Bend High Schools. As a West Bend West alumnus and a scholarship recipient, Hockers has seen first-hand the impact scholarships have on furthering a student’s education.
Hockers added, “I enjoy giving back to my community to support initiatives that make an impact and are near and dear to my heart. For many, this year has presented new challenges with balancing school or a career, being a parent, and contributing to the organizations we love. I’ve learned that having a strong team at home and at work, allows me to keep contributing personally and professionally, and it makes all the difference in keeping balance.”
