MILWAUKEE — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather alert for the Milwaukee metro area and parts north.

Residents should expect winds up to 50 mph. Half-inch-sized hail is possible.

"Seek shelter in a sturdy structure," the alert adds.

Friday: Showers likely before 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1pm and 2pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between 11pm and 1am. Low around 52. South wind around 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 73. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
