One Man Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting: Report

Officials say officers seated inside the vehicle fired shots at the armed and masked suspect, fatally wounding him.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Police in Milwaukee say a man is dead after officers fatally shot him as he was approaching their surveillance vehicle while masked and armed.

According to information released Tuesday afternoon by the Milwaukee Police Department, at about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, plainclothes officers were conducting surveillance on a vehicle based on a tip investigators received about a homicide suspect.

Police say two men, one of which was masked and armed with a handgun, approached the vehicle occupied by a detective and two officers assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Police said the second suspect fled on foot and was caught after a brief chase.

Police in Milwaukee are reporting that the suspects will be identified following further investigation by the Waukesha Police Department and also next-of-kin notification.

Police say the officers involved were: a 51-year-old detective, a 40-year-old police officer, and a 36-year-old officer.
