“I honestly have been trying to prepare for this, because I knew one day it was going to happen and going to come. But now I realize this isn’t something anyone can prepare themselves for,” son Joseph Konczal said in the Fox 6 report.

Joseph Konczal started a GoFundMe campaign to help the family, who recently discovered that a $10,000 bill from the funeral home left the family in dire financial straits.

"We went to that funeral home and they just hit us with that. The life insurance policy lapsed and they don’t want to cover anything,” David Konczal Jr. said in the Fox report.

As of Friday afternoon, Konczal's fundraiser has only raised a fraction of what is needed to cover the funeral home bill.

"I'm trying to raise money for my dad's funeral and a proper burial...because of the accident there has been no more funds and financially wise everything is gone we do not have money for the burial. I am asking and pleading with people that can help to please donate whatever you can towards my father's funeral. Rather it's just a dollar to $100 it doesn't matter anything helps will help." Joseph Konczal said on GoFundMe.
