UPDATE: Police Identify 20-Year-Old Accident Victim Who Died When Female Driver Fled Police

Milwaukee police reported a young male died after the driver of a vehicle fled police and later struck a vehicle, pole late Sunday.

MILWAUKEE -- Police identified the young man in his late teens or early 20s who died as six more were injured late Sunday after the female driver of a vehicle attempted to flee Milwaukee police during an attempted traffic stop.

Shawn Charles Oliver, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Saturday night, according to the Milwaukee County medical examiner.

According to a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the driver of an old Chevrolet fled Milwaukee police during an attempted traffic stop on N. 27th St. for an apparent traffic violation at approximately 9:45 p.m. Sunday.

Milwaukee police did not pursue the fleeing vehicle as a matter of department policy, and the fleeing vehicle reportedly struck a concrete light pole and a 2015 Nissan Altima.

The Journal Sentinel is reporting that a rear passenger in the Chevrolet, a male in his late teens or early 20's, died at the scene. The female driver, 18, and two other male passengers, ages 18 and 20, suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive. The three occupants of the Nissan, two men, ages 28 and 29, and a 22-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a hospital.
