Sheriff Alerts Residents to Distracted Driving Week
April is designated as National Distracted Driving Awareness Month by the National Safety Council and Wisconsin Safety Council.

From the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office: April is designated as National Distracted Driving Awareness Month by the National Safety Council and Wisconsin Safety Council.
Each death in a crash caused by a distracted driver is 100% preventable. It’s not just the dangers of inattentive driving because of texting or reading emails. Drivers eating, reaching for objects, or arguing with a passenger also distract them from focusing on driving. From cell phones to dashboard infotainment systems to evolving voice command features – all pose a threat to our safety. Just one second of your attention is all it takes to change a life forever.
Sheriff Richard Schmidt said, “dangerous distractions to drivers result in serious crashes. Stay Alive! Put down the phone, ignore the texts, and keep your eyes on the road to prevent a horrific crash.”
