Take in Some Inspiration and Beautiful Music at Showcase Recital

Be inspired by some of our area's finest young musicians on Feb. 15!

Milwaukee, WI…For anyone looking for some beautiful music to brighten up their February, CIVIC MUSIC MKE will present its Showcase Recital on Sunday, February 15, at 4:00 PM at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1100 N. Astor Street, Milwaukee. Talented young musicians from CIVIC MUSIC MKE’s High School Competition and the Woody Herman | Sister Fabian Scholarship Fund will perform in Milwaukee’s oldest church. This recital always offers a mix of some of the most talented young instrumental and vocal musicians in the five county Milwaukee area. This recital is free and open to the public.

Here are this year’s Recital performers:

Anna Lena Derocher, violin, hails from Shorewood and is a sophomore attending Shorewood High School. Anna Lena studies violin with Pamela Simmons and her collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Stefanie Jacob.

Amiracle Evans, soprano, hails from Milwaukee and is a senior attending Milwaukee High School of the Arts. Amiracle studies voice with Raymond Roberts, who will also be her collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital.

Johana Kim, flute, hails from Mequon and is a sophomore attending Homestead High School. Johana studies flute with Sanda Măsić and her collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Elizabeth Green.

Helen Knox, mezzo-soprano, hails from Shorewood and is a senior attending Brookfield Academy. Helen studies voice with Roberta Ricci and her collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Kai-i Tien.

Henry Snavely, violin, hails from New Berlin and is a homeschooled senior. Henry studies violin with Pamela Simmons and his collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Stefanie Jacob.

Salvador Stein, violin, hails from Menomonee Falls and is a junior attending ICL Academy. Salvador studies violin with Almita Vamos and his collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Stefanie Jacob.

Caleb Van Gelderen, cello, hails from Menomonee Falls and is a junior attending Falls Baptist Academy. Caleb studies cello with Adrien Zitoun and his collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Joseph Hauer.

Virginia Ericson, soprano, hails from Mequon and is a junior attending Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School. Virginia studies voice with Jennifer O'Connor and her collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital will be Joseph Hauer.

Melody Marks, soprano, hails from Milwaukee and is a junior attending Milwaukee High School of the Arts. Melody studies voice with Raymond Roberts, who will also be her collaborative pianist on the Showcase Recital.

Ruth Flunker will have a big day at this season’s Showcase! Ruth hails from Menomonee Falls and is a homeschooled senior. She studies euphonium with Bryce Bowlin and will be performing on the Showcase Recital with collaborative pianist Juanita Becker. Ruth is also the recipient of CIVIC MUSIC’s first presentation of the Woody Herman | Sister Fabian Scholarship. Ruth studies trombone with Kyle Samuelson and will switch to that instrument for her performance with collaborative pianist Joseph Hauer.

As one of Milwaukee’s oldest arts organizations, CIVIC MUSIC MKE has been active in developing the musical life of its community since 1918. CIVIC MUSIC’s mission is to support music education and provide performance opportunities for young musicians in the greater Milwaukee area. Youth music programs allow participating instrumentalists and vocalists to hone beneficial life skills like creative thinking and collaboration through the study of music. Through private lessons, auditions, masterclasses, workshops, solo performances and award programs, CIVIC MUSIC offers life changing experiences through the joy and fulfillment of making music, reaching over 200 young musicians each year in the five county Greater Milwaukee area. CIVIC MUSIC also recognizes and celebrates our community’s music educators and Milwaukee area citizens who have provided inspiration, education and resources to ensure that music continues to thrive in our community and presents IVY AT THE IVY and KIDS MUSICFEST.
