UWM Fire Causes $1 Million Damage To Peck School Of The Arts
On Saturday, a fire ripped through a theater at the UWM Peck School of the Arts, causing an estimated $1 million in damages.

MILWAUKEE, WI -- A Saturday night fire caused an estimated $1 million in damages to a theater at the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee campus. Crews were called in at around 10 p.m. Fire crews were able to douse the fire in under an hour, according to a WISN article. It was reported that there was nobody inside the theater at the time of the fire.
UWM officials believed the cause of the fire, which took place at the 2400 Block of East Kenwood Blvd., to be accidental. Classes normally held in the theater are cancelled Monday and Tuesday until school administration can figure out where to hold the classes on Wednesday.
Theater students were set to perform "Arcadia," a 1993 Tom Stoppard play, in the first week of May. Though it is clear they will not be performing at the theater at the Peck School of the Arts, they are not completely out of luck, according to a Journal Sentinel article. Several local organizations including high schools, churches, and professional theater companies have offered up their venues for UWM students to use while their theater is repaired.
