MILWAUKEE, WI — Sheriff's officials in Milwaukee County released dashcam footage of a horrifying accident at Milwaukee's Mitchell Interchange on Monday morning.

Sheriff's officials say a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputy was on the scene of a crash that required a tow truck at just after 11 a.m. Monday. The deputy on scene recorded footage showing a semi-truck driving south through the Mitchell Interchange.

Camera footage showed the semi-truck cab separating from its base. After striking the tow truck, the trailer flipped on its side blocking all three lanes of traffic. The tow truck slammed into the wall and the driver became trapped in the cab of the vehicle and was extricated by the Milwaukee Fire Department. He was conveyed to a local hospital for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
