2017 County Budget Calls for Tax Increase, More Deputies, Sports Complex

Racine County supervisors approved the 2017 budget, which raises taxes 1.95 percent.

RACINE COUNTY — Racine County supervisors approved the 2017 budget, which raises taxes 1.95 percent, makes way for a massive youth sports complex on Racine's south side, and calls for expansions in several other areas.

According to a report from the Journal Times, the 2017 County budget calls for establishing a Racine County Health Recovery Campus Center to expand mental health and social services for residents.

A youth sports facility comprised of an artificial turf football field, four baseball fields and skating rinks is also in the works.

Other highlights:

Adds 10 correctional officers to the County Jail to address overtime issues.
