54-Year-Old Man Dies In Crash, Has Been Identified: Sheriff

Officials say the driver of a Jeep collided with a bucket truck, leading to the fatal crash.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Officials in Racine County say a 54-year-old Milwaukee man is dead after the vehicle he was driving collided with a bucket truck Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff's officials are reporting that on Thursday, Jan. 25, just before 2 p.m. they received several 911 calls reporting a crash at the intersection of Highway 45 and 7 Mile Road involving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and a 2016 Freightliner Utility Bucket Truck.

Officials say the Racine County Sheriff's investigation into the crash showed that the Jeep, operated by Anthony P. Simos, 54, of Milwaukee, was driving west on 7 Mile Road when he pulled away from the stop sign, and into the path of the Freightliner truck.

Officials are reporting that the truck was traveling north on Highway 45 and did not have a stop sign for the intersection. Simos was transported by rescue to Froedert Hospital where he succumbed to his
injuries.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is extending their condolences to the
Simos family. The crash remains under investigation, and officials say that neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be factors in the crash.
