Bad Idea: Wanted Man in Kentucky hands Mount Pleasant Cop Fake ID

A simple traffic stop for speeding in Mount Pleasant lead a man wanted in Kentucky in hot water when he handed the officer fake ID.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — A simple traffic stop for speeding in Mount Pleasant lead a man wanted in Kentucky in hot water when he handed the officer fake identification.

According to his criminal complaint, Placido Remigio of Kenosha was driving on Washington Ave. by the Case overpass when an officer pulled him over for going 16 miles over the speeding limint.

When the officer went up to Remigio's vehicle, he handed the officer a Wisconsin ID card with the name Rene Moreno - but to the officer, the man's ID card look nothing like an ID he had ever seen.

The officer attempted to run the name through an in-house database to no avail. When the man failed to provide the officer with his name, he ran his fingerprints to determine his name to be Placido Remigio.

When his name came back, the officer determined that Remigio had a revoked driving status for alcohol noncompliance, as well as an extraditable warrant for a criminal abuse of a child and assault, domestic abuse charge through Kentucky.

The officer also found a fake social cecurity card with the name Rene Moreno on it. When questioned about the forged docuemnts, Remigio stated he "got both fake documents from a man in Milwaukee" but did not know his name.

He was arrested on the outstanding warrant from Kentucky in addition to a charge for obstructing an officer for lying about his name.
