Get out and make spring happen! Racine County is the place to do it.

Instead of just waiting on spring to arrive, this is a perfect weekend to just make spring happen. Racine County has a great variety - come along and see!
Swing a brush or a hammer! Ready to start those overdue home improvements? The Union Grove Home & Garden Show is a good place to start. The show features dozens of contractors and product representatives all at the Racine County Fairgrounds. Hours are 1-8 p.m., Friday, April 26; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 27, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 28. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors. Kids ages 12 and younger and military veterans with ID are admitted free. Bring a nonperishable food item and get in free from 1-5 p.m. Friday.

Keeping it safe. Bring the family and learn everything about what it takes to stay safe at the Safety Fair and Healthy Kids Day at the Sealed Air Family YMCA, 8501 Campus Drive, Mount Pleasant, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. You'll see free informational booths, presentations and hands-on activities. It includes a rare, up-close look at a Flight for Life helicopter and a raffle to win an emergency generator. This event is presented by Racine County Emergency Management, area law enforcement and fire protection agencies, YMCA and Leadership Racine.

A bit of magic. A little abracadabra! "Uh-oh, It's Magic" with magician Bob Bohm is 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Case High School theater, 7345 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant. The shows support the Case cheerleading program. Tickets are $5 in advance at the school office or from any cheerleader or $7 at the door. Call 262-994-4707 for tickets.
Poetry and more. Catch some FREE poetry and music at the Bonk! Performance Series at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Racine Arts Council, 316 Sixth St. Poets Daniel Bosch and Matthew Guenette and singer/songwriter Serita Cheeks are the evening's performers. Visit. http://bonkperformanceseries.wordpress.com/
Bowl for a cause. You're invited to do some bowling and help the Racine United Arts Fund from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Castle Lanes, 5615 Castle Court. Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for ages 12 and younger. It includes up to three games and shoe rental. There will also raffles, drawings and a bake sale. Volunteers are welcome. You can be part of the "World's Most Colorful 5k" next month. Real Racine is looking for about 155 volunteers May 23 through 25. Help is needed for set up, runner check-in, t-shirt distribution, tossing color at the runners, water distribution and start/finish line assistance. You'll get a souvenir shirt and have a lot of fun!
