Local Physical Therapy Clinics Undergo Continuing Education to Help Industries Save Time & Money Associated With Worker’s Compensation Cases

Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists recently attended an educational summit to better aid companies in reducing time away from work and costs associated with worker's compensation injuries.

Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists, a network of Private Practice Physical Therapy clinics in Kenosha, Sturtevant and Muskego, WI, recently attended a two-day educational summit to further enhance their specialty in the treatment of the injured worker.  The education from the summit will allow the clinics to better aid companies in reducing time away from work and costs associated with worker’s compensation injuries, as well as prevent additional workplace injuries.

Worker’s compensation injuries can be devastating to companies as they require time away from work and a loss in production from the injured worker, additional costs in re-training substitute workers, and large medical costs.  Unfortunately, many companies suffer from these frustrations multiple times a year.  According to the Wisconsin State of Laboratory Hygiene, there were 86,000 non-fatal work injuries reported in Wisconsin in 2011, with 23,150 requiring an average of at least 6 days away from work. Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists has developed relationships with several local industries to help reduce these aggravating costs and production losses.   The clinics, which have been specializing in the treatment of the injured worker for 2 years, attended the summit to sharpen their skills and ensure they can continue to provide quality care and services to the local industries, returning injured employees back to their previous level of function at work in a timely and cost effective manner.

Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists focuses on providing a human-performance functional work-injury program based on the worker’s specific job demands, while offering proactive communication to the employers, adjustors, case managers, patients, and referral sources involved in a case.  The clinics hold a strong unified belief that active communication with these individuals is the foundation for rapid recovery of the injured worker and leads to better outcomes.

The clinics also provide local industries on-site services, such as ergonomic assessments, job duty analyses and post-offer/pre-placement testing. Such injury-prevention programs aid employers in identifying potential hazards in the workplace early on and avoid additional worker’s compensation cases down the line.  Implementing prevention programs offer great benefits, as studies have shown that worker’s compensation costs can decrease up to 75% in companies that offer on-site services through physical therapy.

Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists is excited to utilize their continued education to help industries increase the overall health of their company and employees by assisting in decreasing worker’s compensation costs, increasing production and implementing preventive services to reduce additional workplace injuries.
