New at the Theatre Guild. The Broadway hit “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10 at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. This musical comedy takes you back to ancient Rome where a wily slave gets into the middle of a love story. For the birds. If you want to learn more about birds and bird watching, head to River Bend Nature Center, 3600 N. Green Bay Road, Caledonia, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday for Racine Bird Day. Presented by RBNC and Hoy Audubon, activities include guided bird tours, a beginning birding class, exhibits, birding by canoe/kayak and games and crafts. Brewin’ up a good time. A great afternoon of beer tasting, seminars, games and music from Bella Cain is in store at the Belle City Brewfest. Nearly 200 craft beers will be available for sampling from 2-6 p.m. at Festival Hall, 5 Fifth St. Tickets are available at the Civic Centre box office or visit www.bellecitybrewfest.com
Rockin’ the night away. Hairball, a tribute to ‘80s arena rock, returns to Memorial Hall, 72 Seventh St., on Saturday with opening act The Black Saints. A little stargazing. The Racine Astronomical Society’s monthly open house is 8-11 p.m. Friday at the Modine Benstead Observatory, 112 63rd Drive, Yorkville (just off Highway A.) Mom gets in free! Racine Art Museum (RAM), 441 Main St., is offering free admission for moms on Mother’s Day this Sunday, 12-5 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to see a brand new exhibition that celebrates RAM’s 10th anniversary in Downtown Racine. The show is called “Top 10 at 10: Favorites From RAM’s Collection.” Visit www.ramart.org
