Swordfights, a Benefit and Much More This Weekend

Live action theatre, live music and even a little shopping. All that and more in Racine County this weekend.

          Who doesn’t like a little live action, live music or even shopping? There’s all that and more in Racine County this weekend.

 

            See a swashbuckling new play.  Thrills, romance, swordfights! A new production of “The Three Musketeers” opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12 at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. In this version, an adventure seeking young man and his sister arrive in 1600s Paris where they join forces with the famous musketeers.             Run for a cause.  One of the season’s first 5k runs, “Run To Spring,” starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Razor Sharp Fitness, 7300 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant. This family-friendly event, open to runners, walkers and wheelchairs, follows the Pike Creek Pathway. New this year is horse therapy demonstrations by the Midwest Therapeutic Riding Program. Race day registration is available starting at 7:30 a.m. at $35 for adults and $25 for youth ages 18 and younger.             Can’t beat indoor shopping.  If you want to attend a rummage sale without going outside, the Ultimate Indoor Garage and Craft Sale is for you. It runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Festival Hall, 5 Fifth St. Admission is $1 for adults; kids 11 and younger are free. In addition to unlimited shopping, there’s an autograph session with former Green Bay Packers defensive back Craig Newsome. Autograph are $20 each with funds donated to his individual charities. Bring your camera.

 

            An all-day benefit.  It’s your opportunity to have some fun and help some of the workers affected by the Echo Lake Foods fire in Burlington back in January. Called the Eggs-travaganza, the fund-raiser starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Michael’s on the Lake, 3101 Eagle Rd., Kansasville. The morning features a magician and other entertainment for kids for donations of $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Entertainment from 1 to 10 p.m., aimed at adults, includes comedians and bands for a $20 donation. Proceeds go to the Echo Lake Foods Employee Relief Fund sponsored by Love Inc.             An afternoon of music.  One of area’s very talented musical organizations, the Belle City Brassworks, is in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bedford Concert Hall, University of Wisconsin Parkside, 900 Wood Road. The annual Johnny Hemkes Memorial Concert includes solo performances by the winners of this year’s scholarship auditions, Andrew Mertens of Park High School, Katie Warren of Tremper High School and Emily Nichols of Horlick High School. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.
