Get colorful! The Happiest 5k on the Planet makes another Racine County appearance at 8 a.m. Saturday from Pershing Park on the city’s lakefront. About 8,000 runners/walkers are expected for The Color Run Racine, where they will wind through city streets and four “color zones” for dousings of brightly colored cornstarch. Act quickly if you haven’t yet registered at www.thecolorrun.com/racine There is early pack pick up at the Real Racine Visitor Center, 14015 Washington Avenue (Highway 20) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. We’ll have prizes and lots of fun. There will even be "Color Run Kringle!" On race day, packet pick up starts at 6:30 a.m. at Pershing Park. Don’t sweat the traffic or parking places - parking will be free all day Saturday in Downtown ramps. Many Downtown shops and restaurants will be open.

Celebrate chocolate. ChocolateFest "Peace, Love and Chocolate" 2013 runs Friday through Monday at Burlington’s ChocolateFest grounds, just off Highway 36. Festival hours are 4-midnight Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday;12-8 p.m. Monday. Be ready for nonstop entertainment, fireworks, carnival rides and oh yes, chocolate! A new comedy in town. Theatre/Schmeatre opens Friday at the Sixth Street Theatre, 318 Sixth St. This evening of sketch comedy, presented by Over Our Head Players, is a little bit Second City, a little bit Saturday Night Live and a lot of laughs and surprises. No two shows are alike! The show runs Fridays and Saturdays through June 15. Friday performances are at 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday performances are at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Advance reservations are recommended. Sniff some apple blossoms. The apple trees are blooming at Apple Holler, 5006 S. Sylvania Dr., Yorkville. They’re have a Bees, Blossoms and Babies Celebration on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families are invited to a free blossoms tour, a bee pollination exhibit and a puppet show. One more last chance. "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” wraps up its run at the Racine Theatre Guild this weekend. This award-winning Broadway musical takes playgoers back to the Roman Empire for comedy, song and dance. Memorial Day. Don’t forget that the Memorial Day parade is at 10 a.m. Monday at West Boulevard and Washington Avenue in Racine followed by observances at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial Day observances are also scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
