When Everybody's Irish in Racine County

Who's Irish in Racine County? It's everybody this weekend! Real Racine has the scoop on celebrating the green.

         Irish in Racine County?  You’d better believe it!  The best place to start is in Downtown Racine at high noon on Saturday.

 

            Shake off the winter with a parade!  Grab a seat along Main or Sixth streets in Downtown Racine for a St. Patrick’s Day Parade like no other. Dancers, bands, bagpipers, costumed characters and lots and lots of green! After the parade, head to Monument Square for some family fun competitions including best dressed pet, child with the reddest hair, child with the most freckles and the best pair of legs in a kilt.             Grab your hammer and saw.  Spring means home improvement time. Head to the 2013 Home Expo at Festival Hall, 5 Fifth St., for a whole building full of ideas, seminars and demonstrations. Admission is $3. Hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Click HERE for details.

            A free show.  Music and poetry are showcased at Saturday’s Bonk! performance series at the Racine Arts Council, 316 Sixth St. Emily Forst, a New York singer/songwriter performs her compositions. She’ll be joined by poets Matt Hart and Joshua Ware. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Free admission. More about the artists and the show HERE.

 

            One more last chance. It’s the final weekend for the Racine Theatre Guild’s production of “Be My Baby.” This comedy brings together a Scotsman and an English woman who find themselves traveling with a baby.             Another last chance.  It’s also the final weekend for the Sugarin’ Off Pancake Breakfasts at the River Bend Nature Center, 3600 N. Green Bay Road, Caledonia. Just $8 for adults and $4 for kids ages 4 through 12 buys a pancake breakfast with real maple syrup. Then, you’re invited to learn how maple syrup is made.             Racine County’s the star! The long-awaited “Discover Wisconsin” TV episode devoted to Racine County is almost here. The half-hour show, presented by Real Racine, is packed with Racine County sites and attractions, including North Beach, Wind Point Lighthouse, Racine Art Museum and the Bear Den Zoo. A special premiere showing, with host Emmy Fink and DW production team, is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at SC Johnson’s Golden Rondelle Theatre. Call 262-260-2154 to RSVP. Watch it at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23 on Fox Sports Network and at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 24 on WITI, Channel 6.
