Charges for Man Who Caused Crash of Girlfriend's Car, Fled From the Scene
Daylon MD Ward reportedly jerked the steering wheel while his girlfriend was driving, sending the car over a fire hydrant and into a wall.

RACINE - A 30-year-old Racine man faces prison time after police say he jerked the wheel of a moving car with his girlfriend and her 10-year-old son inside.
According to his criminal complaint, Daylon MD Ward was a passenger in a silver Ford Expedition that his girlfriend was driving down the 1000 block of Washington Ave. on June 29 just before 11 p.m.
Police say he and his girlfriend got into an argument while she was driving, when Ward reportedly grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it, causing the vehicle to veer left of center and cross two lanes of oncoming traffic.

The vehicle, police said, struck a fire hydrant and a retaining wall and came to a rest facing north on Washington Ave. Ward reportedly then took off running east across Washington Ave.
According to the complaint, the girlfriend's 10-year-old son, who was in the rear passenger seat at the time, suffered a head injury due to the accident.

Ward could face up to 10 years on two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety. As a repeat offender, he could face additional fines or prison time.
Ward's next appearance in court is scheduled for Aug. 16. He is not listed in custody at the Racine County Jail.
