Charges for Man Who Shot Father of Girlfriend's Children
The male friend of a Racine woman has been charged with fatally shooting the father of the twin children she and the victim shared.

RACINE -- The male friend of a Racine woman has been charged with fatally shooting the father of the twin children she and the victim shared.
Police say that Phalon Hunter-Barker, 25, Racine, is responsible for the crime of fatally shooting Anthony T. Jones on the 1800 block of Roosevelt Ave. on Nov. 11.Hunter Barker faces up to life in prison if he is convicted.
According to Hunter-Barker's criminal complaint, police were called to the rear parking lot of 1851 Roosevelt Ave. When offers arrived, they observed that Jones had a gunshot wound to his upper-left chest area and had fresh blood draining from his nose and mouth. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the criminal complaint, the mother of Jones' twin children and Hunter-Barker went to Mr. Kool's at 1400 Washington Ave., where they were confronted by Jones. The complaint states that Jones was jealous that the mother of his children and another man were going out, but the mother assured Jones that "it wasn't like that."
The complaint states that the mother and Hunter-Barker left Mr. Kool's and relocated to the Ultra Lounge a short time later. The complaint states that Jones confronted the two a second time, and began to follow them by vehicle after they left the Ultra Lounge in order to avoid a conflict with Jones.

Hunter-Barker and the mother thought they lost Jones as they drove to a relative's house on Roosevelt Ave. - that is, until Jones "appeared out of nowhere" and began to confront the mother, the complaint stated.
According to the complaint, Jones struck the mother in the face "exceptionally hard," causing her to fall to the ground.
The complaint states that as the mother lay on the ground, she heard gun shots and saw Hunter-Barker shooting at Jones. The complaint states that after shooting Jones, he picked her up and transported her into a relative's house where she fell asleep.
When she awoke, she learned that Jones had died, and later told police what happened. According to the complaint, she did not know that Hunter-Barker had a gun.
Police conducted a search warrant of Hunter-Barker's mother's apartment at Roosevelt Ave. and located a .38 Special handgun - consistent with the firearm used in the shooting, the complaint stated.
Hunter-Barker is being held in the Racine County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
