Kohl's Cares: The Great Safety Adventure

Find out what's happening in Mount Pleasant-Sturtevantfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Join us on a tour of this not-so-ordinary dog house as Rover, the Home Safety Hound, and his Safety Rangers explore a semi-truck that turns into a 1,000 square foot home. This interactive, traveling exhibit teaches children and their families about ways they can reduce accidental injury in their homes in five important home safety areas: (1) falls; (2) poisoning; (3) fires and burns; (4) choking and suffocation; and (5) drowning.

Children and families go through the exhibit on a 30-minute adventure in which they learn how to identify safety hazards and alert an adult to correct the problem by calling “Code Red Rover, Grownup Come Over!” Each group visits all the rooms in Rover’s house such as the living room, kitchen, backyard, bathroom and bedroom. In a grand finale, children learn what to do and how to escape their home in case of a fire as they are lead through a mock fire drill.

Families learn all about the safety risks found inside and outside the home and what they need to do to avoid these risks. It’s fun, free and interactive.
