Would you like help to get started in growing some of your own food and have fun as a family? Why not sign up for “Square Foot Gardening” at the Eco-Justice Center?
An introductory session for parents and children will be held April 16th from 1-3 pm in the Education Station. Participants will be able to select their raised plot, choose and plant the vegetables they would like to grow, and learn some basics of gardening.
When the weather warms up enough in May, families are invited back to get their seeds and seedlings put in their own plot. During the growing months you come weekly (or oftener) to care for your 20 square foot garden by weeding, watering and harvesting. The Eco-Justice Center staff will be available to help and guide you as needed. In fall, you are expected to put your garden plot “to bed” for the winter by clearing out the dried up vines.
