
The ethnic and church festival season is in full swing with Greek Fest this weekend. You'll also find a new sports tournament, live music and a bit of fairy dust this weekend in Racine County.
Greek food, great fun. Gyros, chicken, lamb, saganaki, dolmathes, baklava. It’s all at the 48th Annual Greek Festival this Friday through Sunday, June 20-23. The Kimissis Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 S. Green Bay Rd., sponsors great food and drink, carnival rides, music, dancing and a Greek market place. Greek Fest gets under way with a gyros lunch from noon to 2 p.m. Friday. Festival hours are 5-10 p.m. Friday, 12-10 p.m. Saturday and 12-8 p.m. Sunday. For a full schedule, visit www.kimissis.org

Start your weekend early. Waterford River Rhythms presents a big, eight-piece rockin’ band, Torn Soul, on Thursday. The free concert starts at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall Park, 123 N. River St. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the show!

Call it fun! Some call it cornhole, some call it baggo, the Racine Founders Rotary Club is calling the first-ever Belle City Bagapalooza a lot of fun. Bagapalooza is double-elimination beanbag tournament open to two-person adult and kids’ teams. The top prize in the adult tournament is $1,000. Kids will be entered in a raffle to win a week at Camp Anokijig. It all starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Festival Park, 5 Fifth St. Food and beverages will be available and everyone is welcome to stop by and watch. Proceeds benefit the many local Rotary programs. Find some art. We’re also in the outdoor art fair season. One of the area’s biggest art fairs is the Parkside Summer Arts & Crafts Festival featuring dozens of artists, food and entertainment. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus, 900 Wood Road. It benefits the UW-Parkside music scholarship fund.
Believe in fairies. Fairy Fest is back at Borzynski’s Farm and Floral Market, 11600 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, families are invited for games, face painting, crafts, photos and much more. Admission is $5 per child. Cars and rock. Head to the corner of North Main and Hamilton streets for the 8th Annual Classic Car and Vintage Motorcycle Show from 1-6 p.m. Sunday. This free admission event supports the Eagles Club charity – the Lew Reed Spinal Injury Cord Fund. Across the street at George’s tavern and restaurant, the rockabilly band Old Junk takes the stage at 2 p.m.
