Former Employee Charged After Stealing from Moving Company

Mount Pleasant Police Department was dispatched to Norby and Sons Moving, on a report of a break-in in August.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A man accused of stealing two handguns and cash from his employer has been formally charged in court.

Hanief D. Young, 43, Racine, has been charged with felony burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon charges, both as a repeat offender.

According to his criminal complaint, the Mount Pleasant Police Department was dispatched to Norby and Sons Moving, 2732 Sheridan Rd. on a report that a building had been forcibly entered and items taken on Aug. 9.

The report stated that investigators located a broken window on one of the buildings and determined that was Young's likely point of entry. Two small black .38 caliber revolvers and $1,000 in cash was taken. Blood located at the scene was collected by investigators, according to the complaint.

Police reported that Young had burglarized his employer, Norby's and Sons, and went to a motel room in possession of two handguns and a credit union bag filled with change and envelopes of paper money.

The witness in the case told authorities that the handguns appeared to be "antique" in nature and one of them had a cylinder.

If convicted, Young faces up to 12-and-a-half years behind bars. Because he is being charged as a repeat offender, he could face additional incarceration time.

Young is currently being held in the Racine County Jail on a $2,500 cash bond.
