Georgia Company Aims to Buy Regency Mall, Turn it Around

If you're old enough, you remember Regency Mall being the "it" place to go for shopping in the Racine area. Not so much any more.

RACINE -- If you're old enough, you remember Regency Mall being the "it" place to go for shopping in the Racine area.

It had a multi-screen movie theater nearby, and anchor stores like Bergner's, Boston Store, Sears and J.C. Penney's.

It even had cozy lounge areas with waterfalls.

According to a report from the Journal times, a Georgia-based company is working on a deal to purchase Regency Mall with the intention of turning it around.

These days, the a majority of the aforementioned anchor stores are gone, and nearly 30 percent of its storefronts were reportedly vacant as recently as 2015.
