Gifford Honors Students For Kindness
At the end of each month, each staff member is able to choose a student they feel best exhibits a positive character trait.

RACINE COUNTY, WI -- Students enrolled in Gifford School's morning and afternoon 4K classes where honored last month for their kind actions in a program led by the school officials.
Megan VanKoningsveld, Counselor at Gifford School told Patch that each month, staff selects a set of character traits to focus on. The school counselor guidance lessons focus on it when each teacher goes into classrooms for scheduled daily lesson time.
At the end of each month, each staff member is able to choose a student they feel best exhibits this character trait. The month of December focused on Social Responsibility. Each staff member was looking for a student who: uses appropriate language and kind words with others; helps others in and out of class; is a good digital citizen and shows compassion and empathy towards others.
