Gilmore Music Department Sweeps Competition at Heritage Festival in New Orleans

The Gilmore Music department took home Gold in every single category, marking only the second time that has happened in eight years.

RACINE, WI — Gilmore Middle School's music program returned from New Orleans Monday morning with a bus load of trophies.

The students spent the weekend competing at the WorldStrides Heritage Festival in New Orleans. All of the groups received Gold in their respective competitions marking only the second time that has happened in eight years.

In addition, Gilmore student Gabriella Martinez was awarded a Maestro Award for her solo on Caravan.

Gilmore's Madrigal Choir also received such a high score they were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall later this year.

The Swing Choir received the Adjudicator Award and the Outstanding Choral Group Award for being the top scoring choir in the competition. Gilmore's entire music program received the Festival Sweepstakes Award, meaning they had the highest score from any combined school.
